Badmaash Downtown Los Angeles

Badmaash

Badmaash is nothing like your typical Indian restaurant — quite the opposite. Bollywood films projected on its walls, an gigantic Andy Warhol-style painting of Gandhi wearing Wayfarers… you feel more in Brick Lane than Downtown LA! The menu’s funky too: lamb burger, curry poutine, Badass Chicken Tikka… Fortunately, brothers Nakul and Arjun Mahendro have retained some classics such as samosas, saag paneer and tandoori. While you wait for the food, sip on a ThumsUp (the Indian version of a Coke) or a cardamom lassi and papri chaat chips with a tamarind-mint chutney. Before heading out, take a peak in the kitchen to understand the true meaning of “Badmaash”: the Mahendro brothers will tell you all about being their ‘naughty boy’ childhoods.
