Marvin

Marvin is a restaurant open until midnight (a rare thing in LA), but you want to treat it as a wine bar, the way French people do apéro: meet friends on their sidewalk red tables, order a bottle of wine (the cheapest wine glass is $16, so you might as well share a bottle) and a few small plates. The best one is the jamon tomate toast, but they also have excellent olives, cheese plates, and charcuterie. Despite the hefty price tag, Marvin is the kind of lovely neighborhood spot with a staff that really understands wine, a long bar and 200 bottles behind it. And by the time you’re done chatting with your friends, you’ll have forgotten about dinner all together.
