At last, a small local food shop. Nathan McCall and Karen Yoo opened McCall’s Meat and Fish Co in 2010, on a corner of Hillhurst Avenue. The small shop has grown over the years, and they offer the best ingredients in each category: meat, fish, bread and groceries. There’s soft shell crab from Cheaspeake Bay, mussels, ahi tuna and gigantic diver scallops. In the next window on the left there’s a sausage feast, pancetta and a perfectly marbled American wagyu. Karen Yoo is the head baker and she masters breads, focaccias and a well-buttered kouign amman. There’s also cheese, several regional oils, snail shells, ponzu, Edmond Fallot mustard… There’s everything you need (even though it’s not cheap) and the charming craftsmen are here to help you decide.
