It could have been called Trois Mex, and we would have had a good laugh. Trois Familia is the third enfant terrible by Ludo Lefebvre (Trois Mec, Petit Trois), Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo (Animal, Son of a Gun, Jon & Vinny’s), who was born in October right on Sunset Boulevard. A sort of interbreed between France and Mexico, i.e. an entirely new style of cuisine which you will discover sitting on picnic benches and listening to vinyl from the 70s. While Abba is playing in the background, we take a gigantic bite of “beurre-ito”, praising Jonathan Gold for this umpteenth excellent pun. On the eat-list: the beet tartare on a crisp tostada which reminds us that Chef Ludo trained at L’Arpège with Alain Passard, the nachos which are drowned in a delicious Mornay sauce, oh and the the buckwheat galette with avocado milk, but also the hash brown chilaquiles, the chicken milanese, the duck confit with leche de tigre… and the French toast which gave up its nationality to marry a churro.
