We don’t know why we always come back to Jon & Vinny’s. For the pretty faces of their staff, where any killer smile almost makes us choke on a meatball? For their meatballs just as big as a fist and served with a dollop of ricotta and two thick slices of Gjusta bread? For Jeff Guga’s design, which received a James Beard nomination? For their indecently creamy sage and butter agnolotti? For the adjacent wine shop, Helen’s, and Miss Johannesen’s beautiful bottles? For the L.A. woman, the ultra-Instagrammable mozzarella pizza with a super-thin crust? For the memory of Damiano, a small pizzeria that was once highly popular but has closed due to rising rents? For the vodka fusilli, or cacio e pepe bucatini? We do not really know why we come back to Jon & Vinny’s… But we always enjoy doing so.
