Tallula’s

Tallula’s has been more publicized because of their unfairly low Yelp ratings than for their food. That’s a shame because with celebrated chefs Jeremy Fox and Mario Alberto at the helm, with Santa Monica’s most acclaimed restaurateurs (Josh Loeb and Zoe Nathan from Huckleberry, Rustic Canyon, Cassia and Sweet Rose) backing them, Tallula’s should only be receiving praises. It’s true they had a bumpy start, with items that seem overpriced for Tex-Mex cuisine, despite being sourced from the Santa Monica farmers’ market. Today, their kampachi ceviche as well as the swordfish tacos with sauerkraut deserve a detour from the PCH. And Jeremy Fox being the king of vegetables, there’s  obviously a plate of seasonal greens with sikil pak, a Yucatan pumpkin seed dip. If you’re on a budget, come simply for a cocktail and nachos on the patio, or one of Zoe Nathan’s heavenly desserts.
