Chances are, if you’ve ever been to San Francisco, you’ve been to Tartine. The small bakery started by Chad Robertson and Liz Prueitt has now spread its wings and flown across the world, with several spots in Seoul, the Bay Area, and Southern California. Their famous and oft-photographed morning buns are here to please, and so is their levain bread. New additions are also tempting, such as katsu-style fried chicken sandwich, grain bowls, and a wonderful dried apricot and cumin seeds scones. Of course, no trip to tartine would be fulfilled without their signature tartines, i.e. smørrebrød toasts covered with smoked trout, avocado, or almond butter and figs. Grab a cup of Tartine Manufactory coffee, and close your eyes: you’re almost in San Francisco, minus the fog.
