What would Los Angeles be without Bay Cities Deli? And what would Bay Cities Deli be without The Godmother? Fortunately, we’ll never have to know the city without this heavenly sandwich. A crusty bread, fresh out of the oven every twenty minutes. Four different Italian meats: Genoa salami, Cappacola mortadella, ham and prosciutto della mamma. Some provolone, and “The Works”, i.e. mayonnaise, mustard, onions, lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. It’s the same ritual since 1925, and there’s a reason for that.
