If we had to elect the best Italian restaurant in Los Angeles, it would have to be Angelini Osteria. For its oldie-but-goodie look that we loved so much at Madeo (RIP), for its Bestia recipes without the three-week wait (Ori Menashi was trained at Angelini Osteria), for its charming staff and their Italian accent. As the room tends to get can get very noisy (Italians don’t speak with their hands only), you should opt for the outside tables on warmer evenings. Saltimbocca, bombolotti, lobster gnocchi, whole branzino baked in salt, lasagna verde from Gino Angelini’s grandma… Go often, go with friends, and sample everything on the menu — until the place really starts to feel like home.
